  • Who you are

    We are looking for a Country Customs Manager to join our IKEA Korea Service Office. This critical role is responsible for leading, managing, and organizing import, export, and compliance activities across Korea, ensuring operational excellence and full regulatory compliance.

    • Regulatory knowledge of the country and customs brokerage.
    • Strong communication skills with ability to interact ethically with authorities regarding audits or to advocate for local administration of regulation and/or new legislation.
    • Peripheral knowledge of warehouse, logistics, business and accounting/finance.
    • Good understanding of financial, accounting, budgeting, and operations.
    • Excellent knowledge of import and export related rules and regulations of the assigned country or region and how to apply them to business goals and daily operations.
    • Good understanding and knowledge of supply chain operations and supply chain security.
    • Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including global counterparts.

    Your responsibilities

    • Be accountable for country import customs related activities, securing efficient and effective internal controls and compliance to internal and external rules and regulations.
    • Establish and implement standardized, optimized and documented ways of working for import customs related activities, identify control weaknesses, potential risks, develop solutions and implement improvements.
    • Manage HS classification for all imported products to ensure compliance with local regulations and alignment with global customs standards.
    • Manage daily customs declaration including provisional customs declaration and strategic application of FTAs while ensuring effective risk management.
    • Lead customs audits and other investigations conducted by the Korea Customs Service, and follow up on customs appeals when necessary.
    • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with external service providers, closely monitor their performance to ensure compliance, secure goods availability, and contribute to the goal of achieving the lowest total cost.
    • Monitor local rules and legislations related with import and export, analysis and communicate with stakeholders on potential business impact in due time to secure the business continuous.
    • Lead and develop country customs team in accordance with “Leading business & people together”, ensure team competence meet current and future business needs.
    • Responsible for regulatory and functional expertise regarding the assigned country. Train and educate co workers, colleagues, and key stakeholders on customs regulations for assigned country and support competence succession within assigned country.
