    Who you are

    As Safety & Security Specialist, you are or have:
    • A strong understanding of New Zealand health & safety legislation, security protocols, and compliance standards.
    • A passion for promoting a safety-first culture, aligned with IKEA’s values and customer-first approach.
    • Experience in risk management, incident response, and stakeholder engagement.
    • Excellent verbal communication and conflict resolution skills, especially under pressure.
    • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to influence and educate others on safety and compliance best practices.
    • A current COA security license and First Aid certificate, or the ability to obtain them promptly.

    About this work area

    As Safety & Security Specialist, you’ll be a key part of our Business Risk & Compliance team, helping to ensure a safe and secure environment for our customers and co-workers. Your responsibilities will include:
    • Supporting the development and execution of risk and compliance plans, audits, and reporting processes.
    • Promoting risk awareness and supporting informed decision-making aligned with our business goals.
    • Monitoring and responding to safety and security incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
    • Advising on local legislation and IKEA policies, ensuring full compliance across the unit.
    • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities, benchmarking against industry best practices.
    • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners (e.g. emergency services, contractors) to maintain a safe and compliant store environment.
    • Support a safety culture by developing leadership and conscious approach in identifying, as well as implementing systems to detect, analyse and reduce business loss, financial impact, prevent incidents and accidents.
    • Ensure the reporting of relevant figures for e.g. co-workers, customer and visitor incidents to establish progress and areas for improvement.

    What you need to know

    • This role is permanent, full-time.
    • The internal role title is Unit Business Risk & Compliance Specialist
    • This role requires availability to work a rotating roster, including day, evening, and weekend shifts, as our store operates 7 days a week.
    • As part of the recruitment process this role requires a pre-employment check for final candidates. which includes Ministry of Justice (MOJ) police check.
    • This role requires a current New Zealand Certificate of Approval (COA) security license and a valid First Aid certificate.
    • IKEA is a non-smoking workplace.
