Our 8 stores, offices, distribution center and external warehouses are always under development.
For this role we are looking for someone with the following experience:
• You have knowledge and insight in the architectural and technical field. You have a passion for building. With your entrepreneurial and creative mind, you know how to find the best solutions together with us for the development of IKEA as a Retailer and as a leader in the field of real estate sustainability. • You have a bachelor/master with a major in (installation) technology, construction, architecture, environmental engineering or project development and you have min. 7 years of relevant work experience. • You have a driving license type B and ideally you speak both national languages Dutch/French and English language well in word and writing; • You recognize yourself in the following qualities: proactive, result-driven, strong in planning, operating independently and working under high work pressure, you show initiative, entrepreneurial and you like to think outside the “blue box”; • You can communicate well. Connecting, informing and involving your (international) stakeholders is an automatic process.
This role is located in Zaventem – IKEA Belgium Headquarters.
Your responsibilities
As Construction Project Manager you are responsible for all aspects of the construction process: from the first idea to implementation/execution and ultimately the transfer to the Facility Management organization. You are also available as a specialist for the FM and Retail organization. On a daily basis, you are in contact with your French, Swedish and other international colleagues and you work together on a wide range of projects.
Your work is very diverse, and you thrive in a very independent way of working. You provide support to the development of various projects for the various departments such as Expansion, IKEA Food, Logistics and Facility. You are fully in the lead for the projects that fall under Real Estate like for ex. PV panel installations. All classic aspects of project management are covered. You lead both internal and external project teams consisting of construction parties and consultants. Examples of projects are extensions of existing stores, large-scale renovation projects and new logistics solutions.
Sustainability is high on the agenda at IKEA. We have solar panels on all our locations and projects are in preparation and implementation for solar carports and renewal of existing roof installations. In addition, IKEA has the goal to run entirely on renewable energy by 2030 at the latest, this project is called 'Renewable Heating & Cooling'. In concrete terms, this means that we will make our sites free of natural gas and oil. As a Construction Project Manager you will identify the right solutions for this, develop them together with our Cluster Engineers and external advisors and then implement them.
About this work area
Without physical retail properties, our customers would not be able to meet us. The Real Estate team finds, develops, builds and manages IKEA real estate all over the world. We challenge and inspire each other to always stay close to IKEA customers and understand how the changes in retail are affecting our real estate needs. You operate in an international setting with colleagues in Sweden, the Benelux and France. Your manager is the Cluster Construction Manager which is located in Paris. The Real Estate Cluster Europe West consists of the Netherlands, Belgium and France. The team in Belgium consists of Facility Management, Construction and Asset Management, based in Zaventem.
