The IKEA vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people. We do this by offering a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low that as many people as possible can afford them. We operate in Mexico – and have an ambitious expansion plan to bring a little bit of Sweden to new markets in the region. We are part of the Ikano Group of companies and the only IKEA franchisee owned by the Kamprad family that founded IKEA.
We work towards making sustainability a natural part of our everyday work. We are active in our communities, driving and supporting social initiatives that benefit children, women and the environment.
Job description
I work together with my colleagues in the store management team. I lead and manage IKEA Food to fulfil the purpose of our function by building business and people together. I strive towards making people smile while providing irresistible food offers in a welcoming atmosphere that gives our guests a good reason to return again and again.
Responsibilities of the Job
Customers
I ensure our guests are always in focus and strive to make them smile. I meet and serve our guests showing empathy and care. I am willing to listen and support them with an attitude based on the IKEA values.
I lead by example and am a good ambassador for the IKEA Brand in all contact with our guests, and I give them a good reason to return again and again.
I always look at my store through the eyes of our customers and walk the store regularly. I have a daily dialogue with our guests to get continuous feedback about their experiences and to learn more about their needs and wants. I then take action based on their input.
I empower and encourage my team to take immediate action to meet the needs of guests and give input on how to continuously improve our meeting with them.
I know about the services offered in my store and use this knowledge to help guests. I ensure my team does the same.
I ensure that we host our guests and make them feel welcome at all times throughout the day.
Commercial
I take an active part in creating the IKEA store business plan and use the country business plan, based on Growing IKEA together and IKEA Food Direction & Strategy, as input. I also work with my matrix to ensure I understand how to work correctly with national and global priorities, as well as local needs, when developing it. I then work with my team to develop and implement a clear IKEA Food action plan which is followed up regularly.
I am responsible for implementing the range matrix (global and national) to secure a strong IKEA Food range identity that distinguishes the IKEA store from our competitors on the market.
I co-operate with the Communication & Interior Design (Com&In) department and the Commercial Activity Leader/Local Marketing by actively contributing to and supporting all marketing and in-store activities. I do this by integrating the Swedish celebrations and yearly focus area into the store’s Commercial Calendar, including the activity range and communication packages.
I make the IKEA food range available at the lowest total cost by, for example, driving volume according to commercial priorities.
I ensure proper planning and implementation of range changes in a simple and cost-conscious way.
I work to maximise commerciality in order to grow sales as well as the conversion rate and average cheque. By doing this I increase profitability according to the goals in my area. To assist me I use the Functional Commercial Review and other appropriate tools.
I utilise everyday commercial opportunities to attract store visitors and keep the chairs warm.
I ensure we use the IKEA Restaurant & Café to initiate various activities that inspire and surprise our guests through engagement, learning and participation.
I have in-depth knowledge of the competition on the local market. This allows me to support the IKEA store in being the leader in life at home. I use such business intelligence to initiate immediate action when needed and inform the Country IKEA Food Manager of my decisions. I also ensure we have substantially lower prices for each product and for each part of the price and quality ladder in order to enhance the low-price profile of the IKEA store.
I secure that the store is always in shape as new in terms of conceptual and commercial standards and with the necessary capacity for growth.
I create awareness of IKEA Food as the most important in-store marketing tool for maximising the IKEA store’s sales potential.

I am responsible for the successor plan in my department. I develop and mentor successors to meet succession needs of the IKEA business.

I ensure we have a simple and straightforward internal communication and information flow, and secure that key information is understood by all co-workers.

I work actively to make the IKEA store successful and high performing, today and tomorrow. I do this by ensuring that we attract visitors, achieve sales growth and reasonable profitability, customers and co-workers satisfaction as well as excellent operational performance as measured through our defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
I utilise relevant reporting tools, such as profit and loss, StorePoint, Functional Commercial Review, the IKEA Customer Satisfaction Survey, Food Safety Audit and VOICE, in order to develop the IKEA business, myself and my team.
I challenge costs by working in a lean, simple and cost-conscious way using and sharing good examples and encouraging my team and colleagues to discover smarter ways of working.
I ensure the implementation of the Finance and ADMIN manuals as well as ASR rules and guidelines.
Operations
I operate IKEA Food in accordance with legislation. I am accountable for operating the IKEA Food areas within the IKEA store in accordance with IKEA Quality and Food Safety requirements. I promote a “safety first” culture where co-workers are encouraged to raise and discuss concerns and solutions. I co- operate with external service providers and authorities when needed.
I implement the IKEA HACCP plan to meet and secure my store’s requirements. I also ensure the HACCP routines are known and followed in all daily work.
