Job description

Selling

  • I provide customers with well-designed, relevant complete kitchen solutions for the whole home by empathetically listening and understanding their living situations and life at home needs
  • I assist customers to plan their kitchens, based on their floorplans, site measurements and specific needs, using relevant IKEA tools.
  • I know and understand the customers’ life at home needs, home furnishing trends and I use this knowledge to provide the best solutions for customers
  • I maximize furniture and accessories sales by offering complete and coordinated kitchen solutions.
  • I ensure that sales and profitability is secured through sales steering and range efficiency to maximize growth.
  • I contribute towards improving the customer experience in the store and maintain a high level of service standard with a “First time right” mindset.
  • I actively approach customers when I recognize that they need more assistance whilst shopping. 
  • I explain and demonstrate the IKEA kitchen features and system and guide the customer through the kitchen planning/buying process, using my knowledge of IKEA’s services, such as delivery, assembly, installation, financial schemes.
  • I provide sales quotations and complete sales orders for customers.

Buying Process

  • I work closely with the service provider teams to ensure smooth delivery and installation of IKEA kitchens.
  • I coordinate with appliance and worktop providers to ensure timely delivery for installation.
  • I assist the customer in the end-to-end experience, and ensure that they enjoy an excellent shopping experience at IKEA.
  •  I support a customer-friendly and efficient execution of the payments (including remote payments), exchange & returns processes.
  • I provide support for Customer Relations/IHI to resolve kitchen recovery cases and installation issues.

Retail Foundation & Sales Steering

  • I ensure that my work area is in excellent shape as new, and that a high level of merchandising basics is always in place.
  • I ensure balanced operational excellence in daily operations to enhance the easy buying experience in line with Commercial Review requirements
  • I work proactively to maintain the safety and security of my work area for customers and coworkers. I am conscious of safety at all times in our store.
  • I work actively with range changes, commercial activities and department changes.
  • I ensure that my coworkers in my department are properly trained and equipped with relevant skills to assist customers to plan an IKEA kitchen
  • I take responsibility to achieve the goals set for my area of responsibility.
  • Ambassador for kitchen training/kitchen planning tool

  • Understand the relation between sales & stock forecast for my department & work towards achieving business goals through continuous evaluation and follow-up. 
  • Taking an active interest in local kitchen competition, have a competitor price overview which helps me promote products in ways that best show our competitive advantage to my customers. (Applicable where the market focus is on the Range kitchen specialist) 
  • Able to analyze sales information, product information, and customer insights and help shape these into a better customer experience, operational performance, and co-worker competence/confidence to sell our products and services.   • To collaborate with projects, IKEA Business and other selling initiatives to anchor specialist Kitchen knowledge in service products and product performance. (Applicable where the market focus is on the Service kitchen specialist)
  • Compile related kitchen tracking, installation & booking tool report analysis by monthly basic. (Applicable where the market focus is on the Service kitchen specialist)
  • Working with cross-functional support teams (customer relations & service providers) to ensure a consistent and high-quality level of support. (Applicable where the market focus is on the Quality Assurance kitchen specialist)
  • Identify and provide learning needs for co-workers to ensure continuous learning and development on quality assurance. (Applicable where the market focus is on the Quality Assurance kitchen specialist)

Knowledge

  • How to optimize the customer shopping experience using my IKEA Kitchens and general IKEA  retailing knowledge, local market needs & range of presentation solutions that connect them.
  • How to analyse sales information, product information, and customer insights and help shape these into a better customer experience, operational performance, and co-worker competence/confidence to sell our products and services.
  • Understand IKEA Retail Methods and Concepts and apply these to my everyday actions – ensuring we have a strong retail foundation in place.
  • Which is my top selling and strategic articles (4 Aces & 1 King) are well-planned in good locations, with good solutions, and have clear communication plans to support mechanical sales.
  • How to use my retail understanding & range knowledge to secure that my department supports 
    working with range changes, and commercial activities and contributes to growing sustained  profitability.
  • How to plan inspiring & commercial kitchens according to the natural workflow with the practical 
    placement of key functions (storage, cooking, workspace, waste handling & washing up).
  • Basic electrical & plumbing knowledge to advise after or before the kitchen planning.
  • Basic Interior kitchen designing knowledge to discuss all aspects of creating, remodeling, or updating the kitchen areas in a safe and functional way.
  • Developing training processes for everyone who handles or interacts with the product

Capabilities

  • Ability to work & communicate across many different aspects of the IKEA organisation with your 
    audience in mind and also collaborate with different functions that require your expertise.
  • Ability to share knowledge in ways that co-workers in different parts of the business can easily 
    understand and adopt. Facilitating training sessions as required.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work and the work of others in order to make the most efficient use of time available.
  • Ability to present yourself well in lengthy customer interactions paying attention to detail, listening attentively to customer needs and being flexible in your approach to provide inspiring solutions.
  • Experience of setting action plans, as well as setting and following up on goals.
  • Ability to identify/solve problems, critically evaluate plans and suggest solutions.
  • Ability to make considered decisions with customer requirements & your expertise in mind. 
  • Good analytical skills 
  • Capable of working with different computer software systems and generally computer literate.
  • Patiently listen to, understand, and solve complex technical customer issues
