  • We are now looking for a student/s who wants to write their Master thesis at IKEA Range from September to Dec 2025.

    IKEA having its presence globally, which comes with a challenge that all our products should withstand different levels of climatic conditions, from cold and dry condition to hot and humid.

    We invite you to explore with us the future(improved) way of working with different types of engineered wood and develop methodology to address how to test and/or simulate effects of humidity on our furniture made from engineered wood.

    Job Description

    We are looking for a master thesis student to work on the development of a methodology to test and simulate humidity effect on wood-based materials. The work involves varied tasks like extensive testing in climate chamber, measurement using state of the art digital image correlation system, develop simulation model by using measured data.

    The deliverables are:

    • Develop simulation material model for humidity
    • Arrange/present the test data, from DOE’s in order to make meaningful conclusions.

    Qualifications

    Our candidate should have:

    • A background in mechanical engineering
    • Curious and courageous to try new things
    • Strong skills in quantitative analysis and enjoy working with large data.
    • Enjoy working in an international and multi-disciplinary team
    • Fluent in English
