Job description
As a B2B draftsman at IKEA, you will be responsible for creating accurate technical drawings and plans for various furniture and interior design projects. You will collaborate closely with designers, and other stakeholders to ensure that designs are feasible, functional, and aligned with IKEA's values and standards. Attention to detail, creativity, and proficiency in CAD software are essential for success in this role.
Develop detailed technical drawings and plans for furniture designs, including dimensions, materials, and assembly instructions.
Collaborate with designers to translate conceptual designs into practical, manufacturable products.
Ensure that all drawings and plans adhere to IKEA's design principles, quality standards, and sustainability guidelines.
Review and revise drawings based on feedback from stakeholders, including design changes, cost considerations, and constraints.
Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to communicate design specifications and resolve any technical issues that may arise during production.
Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and manufacturing techniques to continually improve design processes and outcomes.
Contribute to the development of standardized templates, tools, and processes to streamline the drafting workflow and enhance efficiency.
Maintain organized documentation and records of all drawings, revisions, and communications related to each project.
Participate in cross-functional teams and meetings to coordinate project schedules, priorities, and deliverables.
Qualification
A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in industrial design, engineering, architecture, or a related field is desirable.
Previous experience in drafting or product design, particularly in the furniture or interior design industry, is advantageous.
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar programs.
Strong understanding of technical drawing principles.
