  • What you'll need to have

    【Job description】
    We’re looking for an experienced Paid Media Lead to drive IKEA Japan’s paid-media strategy and integrate it seamlessly across owned and earned channels. You’ll lead the development and implementation of integrated media plans that maximize marketing ROI, working closely with internal stakeholders and agency partners to deliver measurable business impact.

    【Key Competence】
    - Deep paid-media expertise, with the ability to design and optimize brand and performance campaigns across offline and online channels
    - Strategic and outcome-focused mindset, connecting media planning to business results and prioritizing what drives real impact
    - Strong analytical capability to interpret data, evaluate performance, and turn insights into actionable improvements
    - Experience in cross-channel integration, orchestrating paid, owned, and earned channels into one consistent plan
    - Leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead agencies and cross-functional teams while influencing across cultures and levels
    - Interest in home furnishing and passion for the IKEA vision and values

    【Required Qualifications】
    - 5+ years of experience in media planning and buying across major channels (TV, digital, social, OOH) in Japan; experience in digital media is essential
    - Proven track record of delivering measurable business outcomes through media (e.g., driving visitation, sales, or brand growth)
    - Experience managing media agencies and leading cross-functional projects with multiple internal stakeholders
    - Strong ability to work with data and reports to evaluate effectiveness, generate insights, and lead test-and-learn initiatives
    - Business-level proficiency in English and Japanese (spoken and written)

    【Preferred Qualifications】
    - Experience in retail, consumer goods, or e-commerce sectors
    - Experience with integrated media planning, including owned and earned channels
    - Familiarity with econometrics, attribution, or advanced measurement frameworks
    - Experience working in international organizations or within global matrix structures
    - Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and key marketing platforms (e.g., Google Ads, Meta, DSPs)

    【Purpose of this Job】
    - To lead and execute integrated, multichannel media strategies that maximize marketing ROI.
    - To identify audiences and media solutions that enable effective, locally relevant, and efficient marketing plans for IKEA Japan.

    【Your Responsibilities】
    - Be an active member of the Marketing team, contributing to the marketing plan and ensuring delivery towards common objectives and goals
    - Lead the development and implementation of integrated media plans across paid, owned, and earned channels, both online and offline, ensuring locally relevant execution through collaboration with media agencies
    - Ensure cohesive multichannel execution that contributes to achieving overall business goals
    - Oversee media budget management, negotiations, and contracting to maximize return on investment and ensure full cost transparency through an effective contracting and invoicing process
    - Support the Marketing Performance Leader with media performance analysis, including auditing, cost-efficiency evaluation, and regular reporting on effectiveness and impact
    - Contribute to marketing and communication initiatives across the business in line with the agreed communication plan
    - Collaborate closely with key stakeholders across the commercial function and beyond to secure integration, alignment, and shared priorities that drive business results
    - Collaborate with regional and global media counterparts to share learnings, align on frameworks, and ensure IKEA Japan’s perspectives are represented
    - Act as a role model of the IKEA values by fostering an open, collaborative, and growth-oriented culture

    【Working Hours】
    Flextime system with core hours from 10:00 to 15:00 (based on labor agreement).

    【Where you work/Access】
    IKEA Japan’s Service Office (headquarters) is located on the 5th floor of IKEA Tokyo-Bay. We embrace a hybrid work style, with co-workers coming to the office 2–3 times a week and working remotely on other days. The office features a bright, open collaboration space furnished with IKEA products. Work styles may vary depending on the department, so please feel free to ask for details during the interview.





    About this work area

    【Employment Status】
    - Full-time regular employee- 40 hours per week contract
    - Probation period: 6 months
    - Start date is the first day of every month (consult with us about your start date)
    - Retirement age: 65 years old
