  • Who you are

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Financial Controller who wants to work in a global and growth-oriented company with the opportunity to make their mark, and who can help influence, strengthen and develop the controlling area at IKEA DK.

You will work independently and in a structured manner with your tasks, embracing new challenges with confidence. Effective communication with all levels of the organisation is essential, as you will provide service-oriented support and act as a trust-building link between Finance & Accounting and the rest of the organisation.

    We expect from you:

Background: You have a relevant financial background, such as HD Accountancy, cand.merc.aud, or similar, and at least 5 years’ experience as a financial controller from a large company, preferably with experience in an international company.

Compliance and detail-oriented: You have experience interpreting accounting rules and legislation, implementing necessary changes to achieve compliance, and ensuring accurate filings and reporting.

Collaboration: You have good collaboration skills, thrive with responsibility and deadlines, and have a good mood and positive energy.

Clear communicator: You can communicate financial and accounting key figures and issues in a clear and easy-to-understand manner to non-financial stakeholders.

Critical thinking: You are adept at optimizing and streamlining financial processes, ensuring steps are detailed in standard operating procedures, and can think about “what could go wrong” to secure the efficiencies.

Data skills: You are proficient in Excel and generally have an easy time learning new accounting software (SAP knowledge is a plus).

Problem-solving: Possesses a good overview with an eye for detail, has a high drive, and proactively seeks solutions. Works systematically, is quick to acquire new knowledge, and is good at prioritizing.

Language skills: You communicate fluently in Danish and English, both in writing and speech, to effectively liaise with coworkers and external stakeholders.

    Your responsibilities

Month-end closing processes: Ensure timely and accurate posting of journal entries and reconciliations, and accurate reporting of financial information to the business.

General ledger oversight: Support and educate the business with setting up and maintaining the financial structures to follow-up on cost and performance, and support decision making in line with global frameworks.

Business performance follow-up: Together with the financial controlling team, participate and coordinate the business performance follow-up up including the preparation of management accounts and review of margin analysis.

Financial reporting: Participate in the preparation of annual accounts, including the preparation and quality assurance of audit material and necessary documentation.

Internal controls: Work closely together with the local Accounting & Reporting Operations to ensure relevant, complete, accurate and timely Accounting and Financial and Management reporting based on standard global frameworks and local legal requirements and maintain effective internal controls.

Participation in many varied projects and ad hoc tasks.

We see ourselves as influencers – we steer the IKEA business by finding the truth behind the figures. Together we secure compliance with local and international laws and reporting standards; we assure that accounting processes are efficient and that tax compliance meets business needs. We’re a diverse group of people driven by providing reliable financial data to a wide variety of stakeholders. At the end of the day, that’s one of the foundations to make IKEA even better!
