  • Who you are

    You are a creative, strategic, and inspiring leader who is passionate about home furnishing and understands how great design can transform the customer experience. You have a deep understanding of the IKEA brand and are motivated by bringing our range to life in ways that connect emotionally with the many people.
    You enjoy leading others through co-creation, building strong relationships, and inspiring creativity and innovation in shop design. You are curious about customer behaviour, thrive in a fast-changing retail environment, and can balance creativity with commerciality.
    You have:
    • Formal qualifications in Retail Design, Interior Design, or equivalent.
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in Visual Merchandising, Store Design, or similar roles, with proven results in delivering business impact.
    • At least 5 years of experience in leading and influencing teams.
    • Experience in retail, preferably in the home furnishing sector.
    • Proven ability in planning, driving output, and measuring performance.
    • Strong conceptual thinking skills with the ability to see the big picture and pay attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to share creative ideas with an inspirational IKEA tone of voice.
    You are passionate about understanding customers’ life at home, shopping behaviours, and creating meaningful experiences that make IKEA stand out in every meeting with our customers.

    Your responsibilities

    As a Shop Design Leader, you will be responsible for leading and inspiring the shop design agenda across the country to strengthen IKEA’s unique identity and ensure an outstanding customer experience.

    You will:

    Inspire and coach Shop Design co-workers to develop creative and experiential shop design solutions that reflect the IKEA brand and meet customer needs.

    Drive innovation by using insights from market intelligence, customer behaviour, and home furnishing trends to create relevant and inspiring retail spaces.

    Contribute to the country business plan and deliver on commercial goals by ensuring that layout and range presentation initiatives support long-term growth and profitability.

    Actively collaborate with stakeholders across Commercial, Communication, Digital, Customer Fulfilment, Sustainability, and other functions to create a seamless and inspiring customer journey.

    Develop shop design solutions that respond to local market needs while staying aligned with global IKEA guidelines and principles.

    Measure and follow up on shop design performance and customer experience to continuously identify improvement areas.

    Be a role model of the IKEA culture and values, fostering an open, sharing, and co-creative environment that encourages innovation and growth.

    Act as country super user for the shop planning tool, contributing to process improvement and knowledge sharing within the network.

    By leading with creativity, curiosity, and collaboration, you’ll help shape inspiring, functional, and commercially strong store environments that make IKEA a destination for the many people.
