  • Who you are

At IKEA, our vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people. The IKEA app is a big part of that: millions of customers use it to plan, shop and get inspired, at home or in store. We're expanding the team and looking for an IKEA co-worker to build and improve our Android app. You're passionate about quality software, keep growing your skills, and enjoy working both independently and with others. You take ownership, keep things simple and share our values of togetherness and caring for people and planet.

We use AI to build better and faster. You'll use company-approved coding agents and AI development tools to learn, code, test and troubleshoot, checking their output critically, protecting confidential information and owning the result.

    - At least 3 years of experience as a software engineer, with hands-on Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
    - Understanding of Android architecture, including MVVM and design patterns.
    - Automated testing and Git/GitHub collaboration.
    - A formal qualification in computer science or an equivalent engineering discipline.

Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) knowledge is a bonus, not a requirement.

    Your responsibilities

You'll build Android features, review code and write unit and UI tests. You'll investigate performance, maintain the app and support it in production. You'll help shape feature designs, improve build configuration and CI/CD, follow Ingka Software Security Directives and share reusable patterns with other engineers.

Our stack also includes Hilt and Gradle.

    Together as a team

We work in agile teams with product, design, QA, backend and data colleagues. Your responsibilities will reflect your experience, with support to grow and room to take on more.

    Questions and support? Let's connect!

This role is based on-site at our Amsterdam office, with the flexibility to work from home when relevant. We believe we're at our best when we come together, collaborate and build strong relationships.

As we work from the office three days a week, you will need to be based within a commutable distance of Amsterdam to support regular office attendance and in-person collaboration.
